This project started with a decking area that had fallen into disrepair—weathered, unstable, and no longer safe for use. The client wanted more than just a repair; they envisioned a complete transformation that would turn their neglected outdoor space into a modern, functional area for relaxing and entertaining. Our mission was clear: strip away the old, worn decking, address any foundational issues, and build a sleek, sturdy new structure that would not only enhance the garden but also stand the test of time. Follow the process step by step as we brought this vision to life, turning a once-forgotten corner into a beautiful focal point of the home.
The existing decking had become not only unattractive but also a safety hazard. Years of exposure had left it worn, unstable, and no longer fit for purpose. This space was in desperate need of a transformation to reclaim its potential as an inviting outdoor area.
With the old, damaged decking completely removed, the area was stripped down to a blank canvas. This clean slate allowed us to address any underlying issues and prepare the space for the installation of a new, more durable structure.
With the area cleared, we installed a strong timber frame as the base for the new deck. Before construction, we added a damp-proof membrane to protect the frame from moisture and prevent rotting, ensuring long-term durability. This timber structure provides a stable foundation for the composite decking that will soon follow.
The transformation is complete with sleek composite decking, offering the beauty of natural wood without the maintenance. Composite materials provide superior durability, weather resistance, and are less prone to warping or fading over time. Complementing the deck is a stylish wall of greyscale balustrades, providing both safety and a contemporary touch. The warm, tanned oak tones of the decking contrast beautifully with the cool greys of the balustrades, creating a striking and modern aesthetic that enhances the entire outdoor space.
